|What a Celebration!|
A big thank you from the Geology Trust for making the Celebration of our Community such a success. Thank you to all of you who had a stand or came to visit us. One of our members estimated that over 500 people visited the Village Hall on Saturday 12th November. Old Bay photos brought back memories and made you smile.
Museum artefacts and our local heritage were a big draw. The Alum dyeing demonstration was a must and many of you signed up for the Alum dyeing experience, which we'll organise in the Spring of next year.
Some of you bought Fylingdales Football Club Calendars, tea towels from our local artist Jessica Hogarth and History Society booklets. Many of you marvelled at the Diaboloceratops Etoni skull, a new acquisition for the Yorkshire Coast Dinosaur & Fossil Museum. You participated in the Horticultural Society raffle and were interested in the marine discoveries off our coast. Delicious refreshments sustained you on your long stays. Have a look in the Gallery for photos of this great event. It was a true Celebration of Our Community!
Next on our event calendar – Robin Hood's Bay Victorian Weekend on 3rd and 4th December. Your Geology Trust will take part as Victorian Geologists in the bottom bar of Ye Old Dolphin Pub and in the Dinosaur & Fossil Museum. You'll be able to make the acquaintance of William Smith, William Buckland, David Davies, Mary Anning and her friend Elizabeth Philpot, Henry De la Beche and Gideon Mantell from 11 to 3 on Saturday and from 11 to 4 on Sunday. You'll be able to discuss with them how they changed the world we live in, the extraordinary lives they lived and the amazing discoveries they made.
Our Travelling Victorian Geologists and Rock & Fossil Show are presented with the support of LEADER and the Heritage Lottery Fund. We hope you'll come to Robin Hood's Bay and enjoy a weekend of Victorian fun.
