Recruiting for Geoconservation

The start of a new year is a great opportunity for your Geology Trust to launch a recruitment effort.

We are looking for support for our Local Geodiversity Action Plan (LGAP). An LGAP is a document, similar to a Biodiversity Action Plan, underpinning all work relating to geodiversity within a local region and also providing an opportunity to influence planning and policy at county level. We want to set an example, to have a working protocol that takes into account all interests for the benefit of geodiversity and geoconservation. We've been active in geoconservation in our area and an independent organisation for the last 7 to 8 years. You can all be our eyes and ears, forwarding documents and articles we might be interested in, telling us about new holes in the ground, letting us know local information....Its never to late to learn about Geoconservation

You could put your name down for a copy of the document published in the next couple of months. Once you have read the document, you could sign up to it, sending us a letter or email of support. There are many ways for you to help NE Yorkshire Geology Trust to be recognised as the Local Hub for Geodiversity.

Our other recruiting effort is to boost our membership and the number of our volunteers. You can join the Trust for £10 a year, it's a very good deal as you can attend all our events for free, there are members-only events and our newsletter Exposure.

Last but not least, your Geology Trust is seeking applications for a part-time freelance position, potentially from April 2011. You must demonstrate a strong interest in geology, many years experience in geoconservation, a sound track record in research and project management. You must be a good communicator, have your own transport, be computer-literate, well organised and a self-starter. If you are interested in applying, please contact the Trust on 01947 88 1000 or email using our contact us page.
