Geoconservation is at the core of who we are, what we do and why and how we do it.

Geoconservation is about protecting and sharing our geodiversity: our landscapes, our rocks, our ecology, our environment, the Earth we inhabit, our life and work on this planet.  We study why we work where we do, why our ancestors settled in our area. We protect sites of value to our region, sites which are a witness to the Earth history of our region, sites which bear evidence to climate change and the evolution of our planet, sites which are a reminder of a past industry or activity and influence the way we live, the way we enjoy life. Through landscape interpretation, we hope to give people a greater sense of place.

We are a group of individuals with a passion for our region and a range of skills we apply to protecting our environment and sharing its value with as wide an audience as possible.

The Geology Trust is an independent, not-for-profit organisation, involved in geoconservation:

    • identifying and protecting geological sites and landscapes of regional importance
    • and sharing and interpreting our local geodiversity with as wide an audience as possible.
