I have decided to include this page about our products because I'm often asked what a marketing consultant does. Marketing is a very broad subject area and rather than giving a definition, I thought it would be better to illustrate and group what I do in product categories.
Gaining more clients is always a main preoccupation for my clients and we get involved in a variety of activities to reach this all-important goal.
Development of existing clients – lead generation – training (WPA Pinfold – Beacon Creative)
Hands-on new business activity (WPA Pinfold – Raven Hall)
Proposal writing (Bankhall – Disney Land Resort Paris – Eurocamps - Georgia Pacific - Greggs – Nexus)
Strategy & General management
Nearly 25 years experience of SMEs and the design industry in particular enable me to support business owners and managing teams in thinking about their business, developing a bespoke strategy, benefiting from best practice.
Strategic business and marketing plans (Beacon Creative – JP Creative – Pinkney Grunwell Lawyers)
Mentoring and general management (Reform Creative – Z&Co – Luna Piena)
Avoiding free pitches (WPA Pinfold – Beacon Creative)
Encouraging small organisations to use design for the first time and making it a cost-effective and enjoyable experience (West Yorkshire Geology Trust – East Whitby Early Years Unit - CGD Research Trust)
I have developed these workshops to enable my clients to be more involved in the early stages of development and design projects, to help them collect information about their brand from their staff, their customers, to enrich their briefs and discover what is assumed and not communicated.
Branding and marketing workshops (CGD research Trust– Pinkney Grunwells – St Catherine’s Hospice – The Royal Ballet)
Brand naming (Transitions lenses - Loewy, Say Cheese – Entremont, World wines for Les Grands Chais de France)
Communicating is something I do very well and it has proven invaluable to many of my clients in raising awareness of their existence, generating more clients or helping them with the management of projects.
Design liaison (NE Yorkshire Geology Trust - East Whitby School Early Years Unit - Brookfield Alpacas)
Writing press releases, brochure and website copy (NE Yorkshire Geology Trust – Go Sustainable – Beacon Creative – Mark Laycock)
Before developing strategic plans or suggesting changes, it is vital for me to gather information, observe business practice, get to know my client and assess whether objectives are sound and relevant.
Audit – Review – “Mystery shopping” (Pagan & McQuade – Stephen Joseph Theatre – Diamant Boart – Luna Piena)
Qualitative research – client surveys (Procter & Gamble – Pagan & McQuade - Beacon Creative – JP Creative)
There are many facets to organising an event. Some clients need help in sourcing a venue, others want volunteers to help with specific tasks, others want a full package with invitations, activities and liaison with the press. Event organisation is a skill I have developed through my involvement with NE Yorkshire Geology Trust, Artweeks in Oxfordshire and Open Studios in Yorkshire.
